The "Dance of the Tlacololeros" is an ancient indigenous dance from a village in the sierra of Guerrero called Chichihualco. A tlacolol is a parcel of land for farming. Each of the 16 tlacololeros in the dance group represents a different hiearchical role. It's kind of complicated to explain it all, but it's a lot more intricate and has a lot more symbolism than may be apparent at first glance to those unfamiliar with this ancient ritual. It is one of my favorite dances. I never seem to be able to get good photos of the dance in progress, but I did catch this shot of two of the participants beforehand.
