Great point made here - this is a natural bay which has been significant to the local peole for centuries. ZIHUATANEJO

It is not man-made, and was not created for the convenience of cruise ships.
We tourists must admit our contribution to the pollution of the bay. It has been our hope that restrictions to outflow plus improved sewage treatment could protect this area for many years. The circulation of the bay is unique; the addition of a pier would disrupt such circulation and probably cause a more rapid deterioriation of the bay.
