The final 15km of Hwy 37D is now finished and the Autopista is open down to the Lazaro Cardenas exit. This final section saves between 10 and 20 minutes on the journey. No more being stuck behind a double-tractor trailer for 30 minutes as you climb to the tunnel. They still haven't opened the two extra tollbooths yet, so it is still free for the moment.
It also looks like they are also getting ready to open another section of Hwy200 between Ixtapa and the 37D intersection. I believe that most of this new road will be finished sometime next year. This will bring an even larger influx of tourists from Michoacán, Guanajuato, Queretaro, and the other states up North to the area. If you think we have a lot of tourists now, just wait until next year.
